NELSON EDUCATION BOARD.

WESTPORT, This Day. Messrs Talbot, Maginnity, Lock, Boundy, and Baigent visited Cape Foulwind as guests of the Harbour Board yesterday afternoon. The Board met in the evening and transacted a considerable amount of business. A deputation from the Westport Committee urged the Board to erect, a new school of brick to cost either £3000 or £4000, also to push on with tho erection of tho hew technical school. The plans for the Nelson techni- i cal school were received, and it was decided to submit them to the Nelson City Council and the School Committee before calling for tenders.
Miss Tendall declined to accept the toachership of the cookery class at Nelson on the terms of £100 offered By tho Board. It was' moved that she be paid as formerffy, but it was ruled that a notice of motion must be given.
The Board is meeting this morning', but it is probable that a number of items will be deferred until next meeting as several members intend leaving by the steamer this afternoon.
Miss Symes resigned her position at tho Bluffs School.
The School Commissioner granted two acres for a school site at Bainham.
Mr B. Biggar was appointed teacher of Addison's School, Miss Gilbert pupil-teacher at Richm'ond, Miss E. Phillips, Western Infant School, Nelson, and Miss Leighton, was appointed pupil-teacher at Motueka.
Mr Hargreaves' tender for painting at Pangatotara School was accepted.
The Board decided to visit Coal Creek in connection with the site for a school near the State Coal Mine.
A grant was made to the Motueka Committee for improvements. An application from the Nelson Committee re lavatory requirements was referred to the Inspector.
It was decided to call ( ,r lenhers for painting the Murebison School.
Mr Baigent resigned en- toucher at Dovedale.
