SENSATION ON A LINER.
CHASED BY A RUSSIAN CRUISER
LONDON, Yesterday. The P. and O. steamer Mongolia outward bound from Australia on Saturday encountered, a Russian
battleship and four destroyers iri the Red Sea, 460 iniles north of Aden. The mail steamer was fruitlessly chased in the belief that she was a Japanese vessel. When signalled the Mongolia stopped and satisfied her pursuers that a mistake had heen made. The officer commanding the squadron begged to be excused. •<
