GARDENERS' DISPUTE.
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. s ■■ ■ ; The gardeners' dispute was before toe Arbitration Court this morning. The Union's demands state that 44 hours should constitute » week's work, and ifi Overtime to be paid at time and a quarter for the first two hours a day, and tune and a half for the second two hours. ' Double time fc* each additional hour. On orcunary holidays time and a natt. On Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, double time, and employees of five years' experience in nursery or gardening work to receive not less than Is ljd ap hour, gardeners' labourers Is, practical eardeners empoyed by the week £2 5s ; Ind not more than 10s to be deducted for board and lodgings. Not more than one boy to be employed to every three •journeymen or fraction of first three. Each boy to be indentured for five years with a rising scale of wages, starting ai 6s a week for the first six months. Preference to be given to unionists.
