THE FEDERAL CUSTOMS.
COLD RECEPTION OF THE MINISTER. (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Mr J. Kingston, Federal Minister of Customs, who has toured North Queensland, has arrived at Newcastle, where , he had a somewhat cold reception publicly. As masters of ships ars aggrieved at the restrictions placed by the Federal Customs on rhipping, they declined to decorate their vessels. A deputation of shipmasters "waited on Mr Kngston,and requested the removal of the restrictions on the use of ships' stores. Mr Kingston, in reply, said the question was receiving attention, and revised regulations would be issued in a few weeks.
