It is understood that Mr Mace, the defendant in the recent assault case Veysey v Mace, arising out of circumstances connected with the Foxhill school, is endeavouring to have an inquiry held by a Eoyal Commission. It is also understood that a movement is on foot among the members of the Educational Institute to take up Mr Veysey's case, and vindicate him by such means as may present themselves.

A correspondent writes : —A pretty wedding was celebrated at Mr J. LivibkV ," Vfalnut Villa,", when Louisa (Louie), youngest daughter of the late Mr Jonathan' Livick, of Cumberland, was married to Mr Kichard Trewavas, of Riwaka, the eldest son of Mr B. J. IrewaVas, Motueka. The Rev. Mr. Johnston, of Motueka, officiated. The bride was given away by i her eldest brother (William), and she looked charming in her wedding dress of a pretty pale biscuit colour trimmed with white silk and lace. She also wore the usual wreath and veil of orange blossom, carrying a pretty shower bonquet, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr H. (J. Livick acted as best man. The chief bridesmaid was Miss Maggie Trewavas, sister of the bridegroom, who looked pretty in a brown costume trrhmed with blue silk. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a handsome gold-mounted bangle. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a silver-mounted walking stick. The bridesmaid's present was a gold-mounted greenstone brooch. The presents to the bride were numerous and costly, including a piano from the bride's mother. After the ceremony the guests partook of afternoon tea, and Mr and Mrs Trewavas left overland later on for their future home at hiwaka amidst a shower of roses and rice, A scratch match between the Rival and Albion Clubs was played at the Trafalgar Park on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the latter by eight poinds to nil. The inter-Collegiatematches will be played at Christchurch this y^ar.

On Saturday evening a Committee meeting of the Nelson Jockey Club was held, Mr E. Finney (President) occupying tbe chair. Four new members were elected, and several matters in connection with the recent race meeting were considered and dealt with. The resignation of Mr S. J. Flewellyn was received, and it was resolved to accept it with regret, also that a letter be forwarded to Mr Flewellyn, expressing regret at lc-,ing his servir*33, and conveying the best wishe3 of the Club for his fuiare prosperity. The draft balanca Bheet for the year showed a profit of £143. It was decided to place another £140 on fxed deposit, bringing the totil now deposited up to £4CO. The next annual general meeting will be held in June, and it was resolved that the report be printed and forwarded to members prior to the meeting.
