FOXHILL.
WESLEYAN CHURCH ANNIVERSARY. The anniversary or the Foxhill Wesleyan Church was held yesterday wee*, when the Rev Mr Jory, the new minister of the circuit, preached tbe annrrercjary services morning and evening. There were good congregations at each service, and the new minister was highly appreciated. .'•"". . ■ Oh Wednesday «*e_.* n f? the annual social gathering waß held, and the opportunity was taken to welcome the Rev Mr Jory and family. The. charcb was well i filled with a very attentive audience, but tbe laxtikia element, Tarn sorry to say. was well to the fore to try and disturb, Nog witetandrag this a good programme "was gone through. The singing of the Choir, under the leadership of Mr Edridge, and th.. solo and duets by friends were very creditably performed, and ono and all deserve praise.; Mr R. Harker, from Richmond, was resen to occupy the chair, and after a few remarks of encofiragementto the poo* pie he intridiieed Mr Jory, and said that Mr .Tory would speak for himself, and the people would ba able to judge for themselves. We missed the usual annual balance sheet and report. 1 do nob knowSir, whether it is going out of data to read such things, bnt wo have been always used to hear them read, and are hoping that if wo are spared we shall hear them at tho next two annual meetings »f our chprches in Ibis district. Mr Jory, on rising, was received with applauGO, and said that he was very much pleased and thankful to tbe people of Foxhill for the very pleasant gathering and kind reception that they had given Mrs Jory and himself. He hoped that the good foeling that now existed would not only contioue, but grow stronger as they knew each other , better. He also urged upon all the spirit of unity, for where minister and people worked togec ther, good Work was sure to result. _Ha would notlika to make any great promisee, but there was work to do and be bad come, God helping hrn to do it, and be haped all would help in tba*\ Bepresentativee from Upper Wakefield and Gordon Valley churches wero presenr. After tbe usual votes of thanks to chairman, choir, and all tho; e who took pait in the meeting, an opportunity was given for every one io partake of refreshment, of which there waß abundance. Tbe meeting was closed by singing the Doxology, Mr Jory pronouncing tbe bene- i diction.
