The anniversary services in connection with the Foxhill Y/esleyan Church will be conducted to-morrow. Ths Rev. Mr Jory, who has been recently appointed to the ■ Richmond Circuit, will preach both morning and evening. A social gathering will be held in the church on the following Wed nesday evening, for the purpose of welcoming Mr Jory and to celebrate the anniversary of the church, when it is hoped that friends from the surrounding districts will be present, as it will be a good opportunity to become acquainted with their pastor. A good programme will be provided, also refreshments. Given fine weather, a good number of visitors from other parts of the district may be expected in addition to the residents of Uie district.

The new road-making which has been purchased hy Hfie Waimea County Council, was given a trial on the Wakapuaka road on Thursday. Several members of the Waimea County Council were present, including Mr Littlejohn (County Engineer). The machine, which cost £100, requires two men to work it, and four horse for draft- in all formation work. The outer side I \of the Wakapuaka road, from Mr j AlhoroUigh's to Oldham's Creek—a I distance of about four miles— was pared, the paring being about three 4eet wide, wrtah a depreasibai on the outer side to form a watertable. At the meeting of the Nelson Lodge 1.0. G.T. last evening, Bro. Vercoe who represented the Lodge at the Graud Lodge session held recently, gave some interesting information as to the business transacts. Tne total strength of the Order was reported to be : — Subordinate Lodges, 8166; 360,068 members ; Juvenile Temples, 2613 ; 172,538 members; total lodges, 10,779; total members, 532,606. In the United Kingdom there are 1 28,423 members, in Sweden 16,199, in Australasia 11,727, and in New Zealand 2643, of whom 1578 are brothers, and 1065 sisters. In New .Zealand there 38 Juvenile Temples, with 1738 juvenile and 410 honorary members. The next Grand Lodge session will be held at Invercargill. Mr Vercoe also mentioned that Bro. E. H. Taylor was re-elected as Grand Chief Tempkr. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Bro. Vercoe for his valuable services ns representative of the Lodge.

On Wednesday next, at 2.30, Messrs W. Rout & Sons will sell fat and store sheep, lambs, cows, and young cattle at theii Wakapuaka yards. At an early date the firm conduct an extensive clearing sale of live and dead stock at Stanley Brook, on account Mr H. P. Knvvett.
