At tho wool sales croasbrcds and good merinos were firm and faulties sold in buyers' favour ; some lots were withdrawn. The Imperial Food Supplies Associa tion is iscuing 2:0,000 sharbs by public subscription. 1 ' Messrs Goldsbrough, Mort aad Co., Ltd' Melbourne, report to their Nelson agents (Messrs Bisley Bros, and Co.). under date 14ih January, as follows :— Wool: We resumed selling to-day, submitting 3978 bales, and including private sales since 17th December ; dispoeed of 3854 bales. There was. a large attendance of buyers, augmented by 86V * eral oparators from. Sydney. The catalogue included conic nice clips from the Sodtb-east district and Tasmania ; olber localities represented being Western New South Wale 3, East Ritrerina, Qaeenslaad, and Gippsland. We quolti : Meriooes in most cases 5 per cent, bettor ; some lines, however, shoeing no advance on Decem* ber cloning rates. All descriptions crossbred 7>J per oent aivance.
