Tbe Trafalgar Park bicycle track has been greatly improved lately, the ed>e of tbe track bavins been tarred, and, other necessary improvements made. A large numbor oi the local cracks are ' to be seen nightly training; the mnst i regnlar attenders being M&Cabe, Mtf^ '.;■ Ste*ar', and G. ilamrord. Speculation is •' rife as to McGabe's cliance3 in the Wheel Race, and enthusiasts consider that Riven . a reasonable handicap, he mR no doubt render a good account of himself. Mr Poole, Secretary of the Nelson Athletic and Cycling Club, has been advised thatt " Bill " Martin, the famous cyclist intends brtngiug his motor cycle with him for the purpose of giving an. exhibition ride. It trill be remembered that Martin put up a record of 1 mm 20 secsforamile on the motoi cycle m Cbristchnrch, Tbe machine, a Freneb. motor of 6£ horsepower, is said to have been tbe fastest in America. In appear, ance it is ugly and unattractive, Its evil aspect is not improved ' when the cbaffeur takes his seat, occupying a most grotesque position right at tbe rear of the machine, and bis bands grasping handle bars about four feet in leng b. Southern riders are hinting at a motocpaced race between George Batherland, winner of tbe. New Zealand Wheel Uace and W. Martin.
