CANTATA AND CARNIVAL AT RICHMOND.
I A mot enjoyable enterlainment wa- I I provided at the Pichmond Oddfellows' Hall last evening by tho cffoit- of Mrs ! W r . R. May and others, when the cantata " Grandmother's Prithday " was produced, followed by a faiiy dross carnival and dance. Tbo whole was a o-reat succe--, and retlseled lhe utmost creel'it on tho orgam-ors. The children in their fa -icy costumes looked very pretty, and flij diversified .-cene wa- very charming. I'he music of the cantata was rendered excellently, considering most of the performers were children. Miss Papps took the leadin? put, and made a first-class " Grandmother." After the cantata the hall was cleared, and the fancv dress ball u as hold. The eostum. - were bright and \ aided, excellent taste and great ingenuity and novelty of choice being displayed. Among the- enamel er- rep e-ented were 1 Chinamen, Japanese, cricketers, iSpani. I I ards, etc. Une of the best costume- w ( u J one depicting thPNelson A. and P.
