A GOVERNMENT SUE OI SERVICE. WELLINGTON, This Day. In order lo improre facilities for tourist traffio at the Southern Lakes, t\e Government has purchased the business of the Lake Wakatipu Steam Navigation Company, and ie to take possession today. The property includes three steamers, and the wharves and plant. The steamers are to be improved, and a timetable is to be arranged, so that the service may be run in conjunction with the railways. The Government will make further efforts to popularise the Southern Lakes district ai a tourist resort, and endeavour to give increased facilities to peffons wishing to visio that veritable wonderland.
