THE SALTWATER BRIDGE RECLAMATION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE "EVENING M.UL." Sir — after considerable agitaiton by tlie public, and pressure by the City Council, the Railway Department was compelled to decide to fill up its por! ion of that ce-spool near the Saltwater Bridge. That is being rapidly proceeded wiib, but there is a large portion belonging to the City Council that no steps have yet been taken to fill up, and unlesß done so before the warm weather comes it will bo as great a menace to public health as if neither portion had been filled. If the City Council doe3 not immediately take teps to have it3 portion filled up no doubt it will devolve on Dr Masoo, the Chief Hralth Officer of the colony, to compel tbe City Council to do what it is apparently deferring until there is an outoreak of an epidemic. Surely the Council is showing a bad examplo to other citizens when it compels ot <rs to abate nuisances bnt allows a most p ominent one lo exist on its own property. I trust these tew lines w il 1 lead to the Council taking fmmediate aciton to remedy the nuisance complained of.— l am, etc., CITIZEN.
