LONDON. April! 0. Lord Methuen is progressing well towards recovery from his wound. THE TENTH CONTINGENT. AUCKLAND, April 10. Lieut. A. Tapper, of the Auckland Engineers, has been given a commission in th > Tenth Contingent, and he left for the South yesterday afternoon, Mr Topper will also act as assistant medical officer on the medical ftaff. Tbis afternoon the Rev Sydney Hawthorne left for the Trentham camp, to take up his duties as Anglican chapain. It is not known to which battalion he will be attached. 1 Dr J. F. Dixon, who has previously served in South Africa, was passed as a medical officer to tho Tenth Contingent it the Brigade Office to-day, and left tbis afternODn for Wellington. CHKISTCHURCH, This Day. There was a very poorly attended meeting last night to consider tho question of according a send off to the Tenth Contingent. Ultimate'y it was decided that the entertainment lake the form of a sapper, and that an endeavour be made to have the men marched through the city on the day of departure. Mr Burton F. Mabin, a native of Nelson and for many years in the Union S. S. Company's service, h s been appointed paymaster for the North Island portion of the 10th Contingent. Mr. J. Hawksworth, of Nelson, leaves for Addington Camp on Mon- [ day next, he having been chosen as one of the details for the Eighth or Ninth Contingents, wha will accompany the Tenth Contingent to South Africa.
