RECENT LAND ADMINISTRATION.

(From our own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, July 29 The Wellington City Council and citizens intend to form a joint deputation to the Government to protest against the clauses of the Public Works Act requiring property-owners cutting up properties to dedicate a portion of them for street-widening purposes, Local auctioneers have waited on the Minister of Lands regarding the Land and Live Stock Auctions Bill, which they allege will result in spoiling the sales of land by auctioneers and transfer the business to commission agents. It was indignantly denied that the " trotting " of land or stock was general. Mr Duncan requested the auctioneers to supply him in writing with their objections to the measure, and any suggestions as to how the evils the bill aimed at removing could be checked. He assured that the deputation of the Government had no wish to injure auctioneers, and promised a delay in the passage of the bill till .auctioneers in other parts of the colony could be consulted.
