THE TOWNSHIP UNDER WATER, (Eronf Ouv Own Correspondent.) TAKAK A, This Day. Heavy and incessant rain has fallen since Saturday c-vening, and tho river overflowed last night with a perfect avalanche of water, inundating the whole of Lower Takaka. There were sevoral feefc of water in the township from I lp.m. till 1 a.m., scouring the roads, and leaving thein like river beds. Considerable damage has been done to the protective works near the Takaka-Collingwood bridge. The Tain storm last night was accompanied by a heavy northerly gale. The flood water caine into several houses in the township.
