CORRESPONDENCE.
THE EDUCATION BOARD MEETING
To the Editoe of " The Evening Mail. > gj r —The report in last night's " Mail' on the discussion re children's passages to Wellington, whilst being (as Ear as it troea) a fan: pat of -what took place, would leave the impression upon your readers that I had been guilty of displaying bad taste and impertinence in referring to a private letter at the Board meeting. At the time I contended that the letter referred to was not a private one, as at the previous monthly meeting of the Board it was read to the members by Mr Maginnity himself, thereby making it practically public property. I also stated that f Mr Maginnily made the remarks reflecting on me as a lawyer I would take no notice of them, but if he made them as a Rentleman they were not warranted. 1 also Btated that to urge that the letter was not an official one was, under the circumstances, a mere quibble. I am, etc , W. LOCK. lieli on, l/5/'O.
