An application of tho Tow a Clerk oo behalf of the Corporation for the nght to use the water of the Taieri river for generating electricity as a motive power for the city tramways and illuminating purposes was granted by Warden Carew, tnbject to (he license being transferred to the Corporation before construction of a dam, and on condition that the Corporation is liable for any damage caused through construction, breaking away, or failure of works, [united peess association.]
