ACCIDENTS.

A painful accident happened to a lad named Hughie Bonar whilst practising at football ia ithe Botanical Gardens last | week. He went to collar.a player and by some inischanco fell rather heavily on his left wrist, whieh was broken by the fall. Not much notice was taken at the time, it being thought that ho had sustained only a rick, but fche imin not abating during the next day, he went to Dr Mackie to have it examined, with the result that the injury was ascertained as stated. Young Bonar wiU be greatly missed in tho Rivals' third-class team, and all wish him a speedy recovery. Mr Frank Hargroavos, who met with a serious accident to his spine whilst playing football during the West Coast tour of tho Albion and Princo Albert footballers in 1893, had the misfortune to sustain another injury of a similar kind at Motuoka last week. He mado a false stop, and fell on to the floor of a malt houso, which is some feet lower than whoro ho was standing. When picked up he was unconscious, and an examination showed that his spine was badly injured. He is being nursed by his mother and some friends, but the progress mado is naturally slow. Mr Hargreaves will be brought to Nolson when his condition will permit of tho journey being made. A daughter of Mi* William Taylor, of Motueka, was admitted to the Hospital last week suffering from an injury to tho eyes, caused by a pieee of firewood flying up and striking her. The littlo daughter of Mr R. Stiles, who was seriously injured by a kick from a horse ab Motueka on Good Friday, is making favourable progress, and will soon be well enough to come home.
