7 CONCERT AT HILLSIDE. * A very enjoyable concert was givon at Hillside on Tbursday evening, Hth inst, - The eveniug unfortunately was showery ' and dark, and some disappointment was felt that some of tbe friends who had in- - toned to come from town were unable to attend owing to the bad weather. Songs, recitations, and readings were . - apparently equally enjoyed, not to men- . tion tho pianoforte pieces, which were ' much appreciated. In addition to the local talent, we had Mrs A. Litobfield from Blenheim, wid Misa Greenfield from Nelson. .The singers were Mrs Litchfield, Miss Weller, the Missus Gallagher, Misi Withers, Miss Thompson, Miss C. Brown, Mibs G. Frost, and Mr O'Bierne, the only gentleman, but a host in himself. Mr Martin gave recitation and reading, Miss Withers and Mr. Withers recitations, Mrs Welfor, Mrs Wastney, readings, piano, Miss Greenfield, Miss Thompson and Miss G. Frost. Mr A. Weller occupied the cbair. The evening came to a close all too soon, but we bope to havo more tban one suoh evening during tho winter. LOSS OF A HORSE. MrWellorhas lost a valuable horso ' lately, it baying fallen into a disused well.
