HAS A SPANISH WARSHIP FALLEN ? NEW YORK, Sunday. The cruiser New York (8000 tons) has captured the steamer Pedro off Havana. SYDNEY, This Day. A cable to the Central Press Agency, London, states that the American flagship New York has captured the Spanish steamer .Alphonso XII with 1000 Spanish troops, after a four miles' chase off Havana. [The American flagship, New York, is an armoured warship of 8160 tons, with 10,600 h.p. The " Alphonso XII » refer-1 red to in the cable may be the Spanish warship Alpnonso XIII, of 4,800 tons, with 12,000 h.p., one of the principal vessels of the Spanish fleet.] NEW YOEK, Snnday.
