RIVAL FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. Tlie annual meeting of tbe members of the Rival Football Club was held last evening at the Foresters' Hall, thero being a large attendance, Mr E. Hounsell (President) occupied tbe chair. The roport and balance-sheet were read by the Secretary (Mr H. Bannebr) and adopted. Tho balance-sheet shows the Club to be in a good financial position. Tbe report congratulated the members on the success of last season, and mentioned that at the'wish of the Rugby Union the team that had intended competing for the Junior Championship had entered for the Senior Cup, and had acquitted itself very creditably. Their worst defeat was at the bands of tho Nelson Club, who beat them by II points to 0, but they were only team -that orossed the Prince Alberts' (winners of the Senior Cup) line, scoring 10 points to thoir opponents* 20. The Third-Olasß team did remarkably well, going through the season without a defeat, and scoring 32 points against 3. The eleotion of officers resulted as follows -.—President : Mr E. Hounsell ; Vice-Presidents: Rev. R. S. Gray, Messrs W. H. Wobb-Bowen, A. McKellar-Wix, T. H. Bannehr, A. A. Lucas, E. Sherwood, and H. King ; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer : Mr H. Banuehr ; Management Committee : W. Chisholm, C. Sherwood, J. W. Richards, H. Barltrop, and A. Holbrook. ; Delegates to Rugby Union : W. Chisholm,' H. Bannebr, C. Sherwood, G. Atkinson, A, Holbrook ; Third Class Committee: G, Stapp, C. Barltrop H. Bonar ; Hon. Captain : G. Atkinson. Ih was decided to enter teams for tha Senior, Junior, aud Third-Class Championship, and that the subsotiptions remain aa last year, viz., 4s, 2s Cd, and ls 6d respectively. Trophies were won daring the past season by Holbrook (Senior), P. MoConchie (Junior), and A, Hamilton (Third-Class). It was resolved to sond a team to Pieton about the 24th May, to play a return match against tho Waiotahis, who visited Nelson last year, and woro defeated, after a hard and friendly game, by 8 points to nil. It was announced that a social would be held about the end of next month. The following new members were elected:- Sigley, Shelton, firown, King, Kitching, Baigent, Henry, Cook (2), Barltrop, Pratt, Oakley, Jennings, Neale, Pee, H. Bonar, Spear, Gunderson, MGee, Stewart (2), Bethwaite, Haase, Fraokß, Whito, Darling, Webley, Jones, Kinzett, Sowman, Lloyd, and Fitzwilliams. The Club will open its season on Saturday wo.k, and other Clubs arc invited to meet them, A vote of thanks to the Chairman brought a very successful meeting to a close.
