EJIn November last the Thames Customs authorities seized laige quantities of gunpowi'cr about to be shipped on the, steamer Beluchistan, bound for ihe Persian Gulf. The seizure was made iu the belief that the gunpowder was beiDg sent to the Indian frontier rebels, but it was afterwarda explained that it was for Abys>inia. It is now reported that the s.s, Beluohistan hus beeti seized by the British gunboat LBpwing at Muscat, in the Gulk of Oman, south-east Arabio, with a, quantity of aims and ammunition aboard, shipped at St. Petersburg, for Persian ports. It is supposed that the arms and ammunition were intended for use by therevolted tribesmen in the Mikran district, Beluchistan, or for a prospective disturbance in Persia.
