State School Matters.
[United Press Association.] ' Dunedih, September 16, At the Education Board meeting a report was submitted and adopted that after hearing the evidence in connection with the charges of excessive punishment at the Forbury school, the Bodrd has unanimously arrived at the conclusion that the charges of " severe, cruel, and excessive punishment " having been inflicted by Mr Graham on his pupils are completely disproved by the evidence. Napier, September 10. The Minister for Education has refused to assent to the new pupil teachers' regulations unless the payment for both sexes were made equal. The acting chairman remarked that in the state of the Board's finances he feared the equality would have to mean a reduction of the salaries of the males, not an increase in those of females. The Board has only' nine male pupil teachers and 59 females, and the higher salary was adopted to attract more males,
