Mr Booth handed in several further papers lelatiug to wansations in connee. Tim with the dank and the Estates Company, but he continued Jto decline to produce at present' certain other papers • and documents asked for in connection with landed , property and bank premises, as these were trading concerns, some of whioh were under offer, and it would probably injure the Bank. Rut if the Committee insisted, he said he did not see his way to decline to give infoimatibn on this head. He muse decline, howover, to disclose any private accounts of the Bank. He was willing to give totals, but not individual accounts. The witness complained that an imperfect account of his answer regarding tbe cessation of the Bank's advance of business in Australia had been cabled to Australia, and that this had done the Bank injury. Mr Seddon then moved that the Com. mittee adjourn till 10-30 on Wednesday. He thought this should be done 10. the face of the two extreme Bpeeohea that had been mode on the banking question • during Friday's debate by Mr W. Hutohis n and Mr Crowther. He lepeated that it was unfair tbat the Committee should sit while tho No-Confidenoe motion was going on, as members could obtain pabulum from the proceeding of the Committee for speeohes of an extreme character on the Ranking question. ? After a short discussion the motion waa lost on the casting vote of ths ohairman.
