TEMPERANCE REEFORM.
The Rev L. M. Isitt addro«sed a large audience at the Theatre Royal last evening after tbe usual Cliurob services. Mr Isitt advocated prohibition from a religious aspect of the question, and mado special referenoe to what in his opinion wns Ihe duty of members of the Christian Church. He spoke also of the responsibility of the Churoh with reference to tho trallio, basing his romarks on part of verso 8, Isaiah lxi, " For I the Lord love judgment. I hate robbery for burnt offering." Mr Isitt emphasised tbo need that minis Mrs of tho Gospel and all professing Christians should be consistent, aB they could not hope to carry the temperance re- i form aimed at, until they got the Ohuroh on their side— to smite the evils of the traftio they must themselves have clean hands, Until the Christian conscience was eduoated to realise the duty of the Churoh they oould not hope to oarry temperance reforms, the necessity for whioh Mr Isitt dwelt upon. The subjeot for this evening is "Labour, Lib raliam, Liquor." The meetings will be continued during this week, commencing at 8 p.m. at the Theatre Royal. 1
