ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Saturday, June 6. The Returning Officer reported on tbe election of the new members of the Board.

The Secretary took the ohair pro tern., when Mr W. • oleraau was re-elected Chairman, and Mr Ailport was re-elecled Treasurer.

The members present were Messrs. W, Coleman (Chairman;, G. Best, J. E Bartlett, J. Best, H. Lankow, and A. Ailport.

The Overseer, in his report, which was adopted, reported thai B. Norgate had oompleied his Contract of .building a bridge adjoining the Quarantine Boad ; tbat Allport JJrus. bad completed tbeir contract of gravelling on Poor Man's Valley and Smith's Boad; that tbe culvert on Burton's Boad had been -repaired, and the road was again open for traffio ; that tbe Quarantine and other roads at Stoke had been' repaired with gravel from' the beach and Track's Creek j that Mr P. Palmer waited on ihe Board re a disturbance in Aniseed Valley.— Kesolved, tbat the tree felled across the Aniseed Valley Boad be removed, acd tbat proceedings be taken against those persons connected with the blocking oi the road ; Mr Fred Stratford attended respecting bis thirds. Left to tue Overseer to attend to.

Besolved, that about 40 obains oi gravelling be done at Hope near Mr Chisnall'B ; that the matter of a gravel pit at Hope be leit to the members for Hope district ; tbat tbe sum of *2 2b be granted for river protection works at Hope; tbat three bjsbels of poisoned grain be procured for tbe destruction of small birds ; that Sazton's Koad be repaired with a few loads of gravel; tbat the i anger ba notified thai iv tbe event of any further complaints being made to the Board, he will receive notice that hia services will be no longer required. Vouchers were passed for the payment of £50 Bs.
