PARISHIONERS' ANNUAL SOCIAL.
The annual conversazione of the parishioners of Chriatchurch and AH Saints' (Anglican) was held in the Provincial Hall la3b evening, and it was largely attended, being a success in every' way. A programme of instrumental and vocal music was rendered as follows : — Miss Pratt, " May Morning," (Miss Hobdeu accompanist) ; Messrs Ambroso Mooro, Kempt home, Maginnity, Gilbert, Smith, and Maginnity, junior, the gleo " Comrades in Arms" ; " Life's Dream is O'er," to the tune of " Alice, Where art Thou," Mesdames Walker and Hoult (repeate I.) ; MissK. Fell "I don't want to play in your yard,"(eueored); (Miss Webb-Bowen accompauist) j " The Three Chafers," Blee singers as above j Mr D. Jackson, "The Davout Lover," (accompanied by Miss Jackson), Bishop Mules addressed the audience and congratulated the parishioners on the large attendance that evening. He drew attention to the need of providing a Chinese Missionary for the colony. He siiil tho proposal was likely to be aecomplished. He expeoted £50 would be contributed on the West Coast, another £50 was likely to be contributed by the N.Z. Missionary Society, and or fcbe romaining £70 half would be contributed by the Diocese of Christchurolf he having received a letter from Bishop Julius approving of the Boberao. The Bishop also alluded to the importance of district visiting and said a few words to the young people, especially to cyclists, entreating them to go to churoh occasionally on Sundays, instead of devoting the whole day to pleasure. Abundance of refreshments, supplied by the parishioners, was handed round, and tbepleasantproceedings terminated with the National Anthem. A stall in aid of the Chinese Missionary fund was well patronised.
