Banking Legislation.

It was said yesterday that the pending banking legislation refers to the Bank of New Zealaud Estate Company. The prevailing belief is that the Government in order to project interests that effect those of tho whole colony deems i( po itic to do something in regard to the Company and that nn early attempt will be made to test tbe feeling of the House in the matter. What the Government will propose to do is not definitely known, but various courses are mentioned. One possible proposal pretty generally spakon of is to take over the properties with a view to their being utilised in the interests of settlemeut. Iu reality, however, what the Government will really piopose or ihe House cunscnt to is largely a matter of conjecture.
