Shocking Tragedy.
[United Press Association.] Melißouuke, Apiil 28. A tragedy is recorded at South Melbourne. A man named Thorpe, residing in (hat di«. trict, heard a knock at his door early this morning and on opening it a woman named Kate Norton, with whom he bad been living, fell into his arms. She had a fearful gash iv the throat and died almost immediately. The police arrested a young nmn named Arthur Beck, who confessed that the woman and be lived together some years ano that they met the previous night, whioh they spent together, and because she refused to resume their old relations, ho cut her throat with a razor, to purohase wbioh he had to pawn his clothes The track of blood showed that the woman bad walked seventy yards after the'wound was inflicted.
