Bursting of a Reservoir.

[United Press Association.] Paris, April 28. harly yesterday morning, the Bousey reservoir, containing seven million cubic metres, burst, and inundated the country between Kpinal and Chatel. The flood destroyed six miles of banks of the Enstern Canal, and, increasing in volume ns the current tore down the Kpinal Valley, swept away farmhouses, bridges, and in some instances whole plantations. The water finally emptied itself into the Moselle river at Chatel, 11 miles distant from the burst. Numerous villages were destroyed and not a single house remains in Bousey and Diirnieulles. j> few houses are standing at Les Forges, which was previously inhabited by 1400 people. Twenty-nine wore drowned at Urequency, and' altogether over fifty were drowned. The damage is estimated at two million sterling. Many residents escaped in their night clothes, and terrible distress prevails in the districts inundated.
