At breakfast Mrs Waterman, the licensee's wife, trod on a match, the result being that her clothing instantly took fire, , the lining of her dress being apparently very inflammable. The flame ran rapidly, and theiPremier inßtantly recognising the danger, sprang to the woman's assistance: before the others noticed the fire", and speedily extin ; .. guished the fire, his hands being slightly scorched duriog the operation. The Premier's prompt action undoubtedly saved her from being severely injured. j
