THE S.S. WAIPARA.

The Waipara, which has been hero for over two months undergoing extensive alterations andrepairsJeaYesto-monowniorn- / ing for the West Coast She has been supplied with a new boiler, made ab the Anchor Foundry. It is exceptionally strong and is made to stand a working pressure of 150 pounds to the square inch. Before being put into the Waipara ib was submitted to a hydraulic test of 300 pounds to the square inch. It is said to he the first marine boiler mado in New Zealand to work at auch a high pressure. The engines have beeu thoroughly overhauled ana new parts supplied. The deck aft has been raised, and the wood replaced by iron . All defective plates have been removed, and the vessel strengthened throughout. Sho has also been cleaned aud painted internally and externally, and the cabin has been renovated. A new donkey-boiler has been supplied her. The whole of the. work has been done at the Anchor Foundry, under the personal supervision of the mauager, Mr Alexander Brown, and is highly creditable to Nelson.
