Mr Seddon hid a great reception here yesterday. He arrived at half past one in tho afternoon, and was received by the Mayor and Councillors. Hs received an address from the Borough Counoil. He inspeoted the mines at Taylorville, the st te school, and reoeived a deputation with re ference to mines. He was entertained at luncheon and gave a politioal address in the evening. With regard ta the mines ho made no definite promice. An expert would be sent instructed tt unke a report, when a decision would be given on the prospeo'ing qaestior. The royalties wou'd be considered from the positions of landlords and tenants, aud the whole matt:r might be safely left in the hands of the Ministry, whose duty it was to encourage industries so long as no injurious precedent was established. The Minister left for Greymouth at nine o'olock. He has left for Beefton to-day.
