The ni mthly inspection of the Volunteers wes held last uight, when the muster was not so large as usujJ. Owing to the misjrable weather the corps did not Ic-a7e the Drill Shed. After the arms had been inspected by Lieut-Colonel Pitt, the men were put through the manual auri firing exercises by Major FrauklyD, aucl the sword-biyonet exercise by Captain S mpson. The District Adjutant, Captain Littlt John, then put the battalion, through some square movements. The country oorps cime to town by train as usual, and were brought from the Ralway station to the Drill Shed by the Garrisoa Band. The inspeciion of the H Battery will be held this evening. A signalling class will shortly be started by Sergt- Major Healy, assisted by Sergeant Oikley of the City Rifleß. The following promotions have been made in the Naval Artillery :-lat class Pettyofficer Birltrop to be Chief Petty Officer; 2nd clas3 Petty-officer Dykeß to be Ist class Petty-officer; and Seaman Nulder to be 2nd class Petty.-<officer. The Garrison Band held its annual social recently, when a very pleasant evening was spent. The City R-fles will hold a Eocid and dance in the Provincial Hall on the 21th May, when it is expected there will be a large attendance, not only of Volunteers but of the general public. The oharge for admission has been fixed at a very low rate.
