Arrived — tr s. Industry, from Auckland,
Replying to a question in the House of Assembly to-day as to whether the Government had made any agreement to ajd General Booth in his Colonization scheme, or whether the Government would take steps to prevent the introduction of pauper labour, the Premier said that without direotly answoring he might say that he bad had a conversation with the leader of the Salvation Army on his arrival in Sydney, but that nothing had been said about aiding the sobeme nor with regard to paupers. He had no doubt, however, that when the time arrived to deal with the matter the Government would bo equal to the oooaeion,
Brisbane, October 13.
Sir Samuel Griffiths has reoeived a private cable from Sir J. F. Garriok, Agent-General in London, intimating that the Bank of England requires a withdrawal of Sir Thomas Mollwraith's statement to the effect; that the Bank of England stuck to the Colony when it pleased them and threw it aside when it did not. The only reply sent is a statement of the aotual words ÜBed.
Hobart, October 13.
The E.M.S. Dorio arrived from London via the Cape at 11 o'olook this morning, and sails again for Wellington at 5 o'olook to-morrow morning. She brought 45 passengers for Australian ports, and has 115 for New Zealand.
