The Auokland correspondent of the Utago Daily Timet writes ;— Messrs Blyth aud Co., of Green Hill, near Auokland, who shipped 1000 cases of apples to the London market this Beason, have reooived particulars of the results of the shipment of 100 cased by the Tongariro in February last, oonsigned to Mr T. White, of Covent Gardens, through the Loan and Mercantile Agency. Tho fruit was oarefully seleoted, paoked in 401b oases, eaoh apple being* wrapped in specially prepared paper. The varieties were, Orange Pippin, King of Tompkins, William Pippin, Cleopatra, Haytai. and Duo Canada. The fruit sold at an average of 19s 7d per onao. The expenses amounted to 4a per case, and the net return averaged 12s 4d por oase, The fruit was landed and sold by Mr White at Oovent Gardens on the 3rd April. He says : "Looking at the übipment as a whole, the fruit was very fine and the prices realised are very good, but we do not think they cvn be maintained. If they could we should have all New Zealand planting fruit to bo Bent Hoine, as the prioea show about £60 per ton, whioh is far more than anything made for fruit in this country."
