QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY.
TO THE EDITOK OF THE " EvENISG MAIL."' Sir — A correspondent in this morning's Colonist signing himself "Hosier" seema a bit upset because a.meeting is convened for tradesmen wifchoufcjany signature appearing beneath. I cannotfor the life of me see the importance or the necessity for such; the object of the proposed meeting i 3 to try and get a point settled over which there is a great difference of opinion, and for that purpose there is no better mode of obtaining a general expression of feeling, "Hosier 1 . 1 is not asked to pay for the advertisement, and I should have thought that, considering the importance of deciding at once upon which day the holiday is to be observed, it would not concern him or any one else who takes the initiative in convening a meeting so long as that desired object is obtained. Yours, &c., One of the Conveners.
