All the way home the \ struggle was maintained exoept by Hall, * who eased tra entering the straight* Wilmott kept bis place, but th© determined riding of Hounsell wore down Soanes after a gallant fight. Both Hayward and Wilson paßsed HalL but wero unable to reaoh the otbers. Wilmott won by a length, Hounsell being second by. a wheel, while Hayward and Wilson,' respectively fourth and fifth, were clofie up. Time— 29min 23|8ec, which sup. plants Wilmott's record of Slmin H^seo, Hounsell reoeived quite an ovation on hiß- return to the pavilion, being ,carried Sbonlder-bigh to the dressing room. Seven men were in it when the last ronnd was commenced, and atter Soanes I had made his effort, Wilmott shot ont and j ' soored a. well deserved win. Hounsell, of Nelson, wno had been riding a very patient raoe, came np in the last hundred yards with a tremendous spurt and beat Soanes lor second honours. Honnsell's buoosbs was very popu< lar and both he and Wilmott were oarried into the pavilion shoulder high.
