A TEXAN EPOSODE.
An inoipient race war commenced between the biooks and whites in Basfciop County, 20 miles from Austin, on Juno 14. At the last election the negroes in tbe Cedar Greek precinct elected a justice of peace and v oonstable, both ignorant corr* field negroes. A few days ago Aif Litteu, a white man, went to a negro's cabin to expostulate with him for sending an insulting message to himself and wife. Fo£ this he was arrested by the negro constable and brought before the negro Justice for trial. Litteu, wishing to step outaide the court a minute, asked permission. His lawyer said "yes," but the negro constable said " no." Disregarding the latter Xdtten started for the door, when the negro fired, killing him instantly. On this a desperate fight commenced. The black fallows present delivered a perfect volley of ballets, and when the smoke cleared away And the firing ceased it was found that three -white men were killed and three badly wounded. A negro had also been killed by : a , titray bullet. The negro justice and his Constable mounted their horses and fled. The negroes,, it is said, had been waiting an opportunity for this massacre a long time. ;
