Wellington, July 24, When Ohemis was informed that th< Government had deolined to allow Mr Jellicoi to interview him again, he asked for writing materials, whioh were at ouce supplied t< him, and he then wrote a statement to thi Government purporting to be a truthful ao count of his movements on the night of thi 31st May. '" He asserts his innocence,- anc protests againßt being hanged for a orime o whioh he says he is innocent, The state ment, whioh was written in Italian, will b placed before the Governor in due course.
