I The Thames Star, in an artiole on the Dean frauds, says:— "lt is no wonder now that the Harbour Board funds have been at so low an ebb, and that the borough exchequer has been in so depleted a condition. According to the London Nen> York Herald the mother of Mrs Maybrick had a regular mania for collecting all sorts of poisons. She was a thorough amateur toxicologist. She had oolleoted poisons from all parts of the world, and took great pride in her collection, which she hau in a fine cabinet, with eaoh poison oarefully labelled. A gentleman once visited her house by invitation to inspeot this result of a strange " fad." She entertained him for hours discoursing on the effeot and nature of eaoh deadly agent, and showed an unusual knowledge of toxioology.
