WAI ME A ROAD BOARD.

A special meeting of the Board was held on October 11th, when all the members were present. It was proposed by Mr Price, seconded by Mr Griffiths, and oariied, That this meeting do not adjourn until all items on the business sheet have been disoussed and disposed of, as well aa any other important matters any member may desire to be ventilated. Mr Savage attended and answered questions in connection with alleged overstepping his duties as ranger to the Board, when it was resolved, That the Board having heard Mr Savage's explanation of the oharge of exceeding his duties of ranger, is of opinion tha* he had discharged his duties satisfactory | to the Board. i Mr Jones reported the results of a recent visit through 85 and Quail Valleys, and recommended attention to road from Mr Well's upwards. Resolved, on the motion of Mr Prioe, That as complaints have been made about a recently dug drain in 88 yalley, a Committee of two members, to consist of Messrs Lines and Griffiths, inspect the place to ascertain if it is a necessary work, and report at the next meeting. , No. 1 contract, Gibbs' Valley.— J. Resolved, That it be an instruction to the Ranger to clear the roads in. the Board dis trict of all animals found either straying or depasturing thereon, and that he use his own discretron as regards driving to the pound or back to the owner's residence, and that he bear the responsibility of arranging his charges according 1 to the Impounding Act. Resolved, on the motion Mr David Price, That the first item of the order paper at all future Board meetings, after disposing of the minutes of the previous meeting, shall be the financial business, as he disapprored of the old practice of hurrying the passing of the accounts at the end of the meeting. The Board adjourned to inspect the roads leading to Dovedale and Stanley Brook.
