Nominators have decided to nominate the Her. Allen Coey vicar of Tipon, Stafford^ shire, to the Incumbency of St. Peters, Wellington. The nomination has been approved by the Bishop of Wellington. In the Supreme Court Richard Cheeaeman Who was found guilty of forgery apd uttering, and was remanded for the Probation Officer's report, was brought up to-day and sentenced to 9 months hard labour.

. A slight shook of earthquake was felt here, at 2*24 a m., the apparent direction being east by west, and the duration about 83ecs. The railway station at Opawa, on the Lyttelton line three miles from Christchurch, was burned down at 5 this morning. The oause of the fire is not known. Mr McAlman, stationmaster, who lives near, was awakened when the station was a mas 3 of flames. Nothing was saved. Wbstpobt, Ootober, 12. There was was a severe shock of earthquake at 2 SO this morning. Paring tbe past ten days four applications for mineral leases on the coal reserves have been made, covering nearly 7000 acres, upon which £670 has been paid into tbe Land Office.
