The Codlin Moth Bill.

Donedin, June 7. At a meeting of the local fruit growers the following resolution was carried :— -That this meeting strongly oppose the passage of the Oodlin Moth Bill in its present form, as being a most useless and offensive measure, and certain to cripple the fruit industry in this part of the oolony. Christchobch, June 7. At a meeting of the Canterbury Fruit Growers Association the following resolutions were passed :— That this Association approves of the principle of the Oodlin Moth Bill, but Buggests that the proposed ta^ should be levied on applies, quinces, and pears only That the only effectual method of oheoking the further spread of the inseot is to prohibit the importation of fruit andltreesfrom infected into clean districts. That the importation of fruit and trees frop Tasmania, Australia , and Amerioa be prohibited j that Parliament be recommended to iuorease the duty on imported fruit to £d per lb, (From our own Correspondent.) Wellington, June 7. A meeting of members of both Houses interested in the Codlin Moth JBill win be held on Monday. Mr Hobbs says that they will be satisfied with a "stringent regulation preventing the sale or purohase of infected fruit, and he is satisfied that the orohardists will seek further legislation to that now proposed next year.
