A NEW ZEALAND EARL
Oar Wellington correspondent telegraphs: —There is now a real live Earl resident in Oamaru. A cable to-day contains the intelligence of the death of the Earl of Sheffield, and Lord Reidhaven of Oamaru being hia eldest son is consequently raised to the peerage. Lord Reidhaven twice unsuccessfully contested the Oamaru seat viz, against Mr Shrimskiand Mr Hislop. He will take his seat in the House of Lords as , Baron Strathspey.
