THE WAKATU GOLD.
Mr C. S. Saxton has received from Sir James Hector the following telegram :— "The antimony found in the first hurried tests wae pr-rtly errocein owing to suspected presence of copper, as nearly the whole of the base mptal in the last samples tested proves to be bismuth, which occurs in tho stone as a native alloy w£bh gold as we diecovered last ye?r, Your 360 tons oE stone, if the crushed sample was a fair average, should havo yielded, gold 2511 oz% silver 63, and bismyth 288 ozs, whereas you only got of gold about ifO ozi, I withdraw all suspicions of tampering.''
