Yesterday af tornoon a fire broke ont in the Victoria Arcade blpok, snproied to bave been c.used by a defective chimney; The outbreak took plrce in Kidd and Wildman's bookseller j.hop, but was suppressed before much damage was done. The stock whioh was slightly damaged, waa insured for £600 in the South British aDd £600 in the New Zealand, i v Wellington, December 21. The libel aotioo, Nation, proprietor of the Wairarapa Standard v. Henry Anderson, journalist, was withdrawn th's morning.
