RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
[Before O, Curtis, Esq",, R.M.] 9 Michael Healy was charged with disorderly \ behaviour on the Port JRoad on Good Priday. £ Fined 10s and costs. Cockram Westrupp was charged with t disorderly behaviour on the Port Boad, also 1 with assaulting ConstaTblc Phair in the j execution of his duty. The Constable said he < arrested both the men for fighting, and ] Westrupp was very violent, so much so that i he had to get Healy to help him. Several i previous convictions having been proved againßt the accused, he was sentenced to a : week's imprisonment for the first offence, and i a month's hard labor for the Becond. H. V. Philli/'s. v Mason— Claim for 19s lld for goods supplied. Judgment for amount and costs 7s. Sjjerrey v. J. AM. Packer.— Claim for £2 6s 7d, property tax. The defendant said he did not owo lhe money, as he was taxei for a i*roper:y he did not hold. — His Wors'iip eaid the Act was an arbitrary one, and no defence haviDg been filed eight days previous to the sitting of the Court he had no opi ion whatever, but was compelled to give ju-.lgment for the amount and costs 7s. Defeud-mt eaid he did not intend to pay the money. AF. Cooke v. Gf. F. Rieliardson. — Claim for £9 48, professional oharges, &c. Judgment for amouut and costs los.
