SAILED. October 13, steamer Murray, 78, Vickerman, for Keberangu «d Wellington. steamer Elsie, 14, Clarke, for Riwaka. _ steamer Penguin, 471, Allman, for Pieton, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Passengers : Meadames Grove, Kaikes, Messrs Livingston, Gully, Warren, Smith, Campbell, and Devanny.
Captain Edwin _ reported at 11-45 a.m.: — "Bad ■weather approaching between north and east and south-east. Glass will further fall, and wind backing, and within next 12 hours heavy rain, heavy sea, and unusually high tides." The Waverley arrived from Wellington this morning, and sails at 5 p.m. for Wanganui and Patea. The Murray reached Kekerangu at 9 o'clock this morning, and proceeda to Wellington to-night. The Lady Barkly arrived from Golden Bay this morning, and returns there at 7 p.m. to-morrow. The Elizabeth arrived from Fern Town this morning, bringing a cargo of coal for Mr Burford. The Kennedy and Charles Edward are detained at Hokitika to-day by heavy northerly weather and a flooded river. The Mahinapua arrived from Wellington and South at 10 o'clock this morning, and sails at 6 p.m. for Westport. I (The Hawea left Wellington at 4*30 and Ficton at 10 o'clock this morning, will arrive here to-night, and sail by the same tide at 8 p.m. for Tarenaki and Manuka v. The brigantine Jasper arrived this afternoon from Bundaberg (Queensland), with a cargo of Queensland sugar. She is consigned to Messrs Sclandera & Co., and part of her freight is for Messrs Burton & Co. After discharging the & elson portion of her cargo she ■will sail for Lyttelton. the rest being for Messrs Sclanders & Co. at Christchurch, and Mr C. W. Turner. The Penguin arrived from Northern ports at 730 last evening, after a smart run of 11^ hours from Taranaki, thua averaging 13 knots per hour. The passage was made entirely by steam, there being little or no wind. She sailed at 9*30 this morning for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton. '
