The attendance was somewhat limited. Ouk Wakefield correspondent writes : — The very gentle old-fashioned spring showers with which this district has been favored during the past week, have produced the most g t ateful effect.. Gardens, orchards, the young grain of every kind, and mankind too, are looking pleasant, and with regard to the latter, the " better times" so much prayed for are sanguinely expected. However, we in the country have a happy knack o? distilling pleasure — possibly artificial enough —and diffusing ouv product to the general good of all who prefer to avail themselves of its advantages. The sensation to-night i3 the Scotch concert, or rather an entertainment under the auspices of Royal Caledonian Society, to be held in the Temperance Hall, when several novelties will be introduced. The objects o£ the Society if not exactly benevolent being uniformly good^the patronage will no doubt be large. Many of our readers will hear with great regret of the death of Mr John Wilson, of the firm of Eawson and Wilson, dentists, which took place at Wellington on Saturday morning, and was the result of a severe attack of rheumatic fever which he experienced in Blenheim, and was followed by a relapse in Wellington. The deceased gentleman, who was a general favorite, was a rapidly rising member of his profession, in which he promised to take high rank. He was the eldest son of Mr Joseph Wilson of Motueka, and grandson of the late Dr Wilson, who is well remembered by all the earlier Nelson settlers. Wolfe's Schnapps has almost been a household word in the mouths of the thousands who have been restored or relieved by its use, and it is certainly proverbial for the wonderful cures it has consummated since its introduction.
